Creative Partnerships aims to transform learning. We do this by building sustainable partnerships between children, schools, teachers, community and the creative sector. By placing creativity more centrally in children’s lives we aim to enable them to think differently and act differently and, the hope is, they then have the tools to shape a better future for themselves and society.
Creative Partnerships is a national programme running in 36 areas across England and managed by Arts Council England. In the South West, Creative Partnerships works across Cornwall, Plymouth, Bristol and the Forest of Dean, taking a shared region-wide approach in order to maximise opportunities for young people and to share best practice across teams of people.
Cornwall was one of the original pilot areas, beginning work in 2002 with 42 partner schools and after the pilot’s end in 2004 extending to reach more that two thirds of the region’s primary and secondary schools. Although current funding is reducing and eventually ends in March 2008, it is hoped that the work we have been developing will continue through other channels and through other organisations and individuals.
