Liz Tyrrell- visual & withy artist

After growing up in the Midlands and gaining a fashion/ textiles degree in Liverpool, I moved to the Penzance area 12 years ago. For the last 10 years I have been building up my work as a maker of large scale processional sculptures and lanterns for festivals as well as flags, banners and painted signs. I work alone and with other artists, schools and community groups to produce these. I run art workshops for people aged 4 through to adult on various themes using textiles, willow, mixed media and paper. This year I ran textiles workshops at 6 schools in the Lostwithiel area over 6 days for pupils aged 4 to 11 years old. I have led Withy sculpture workshops in Penzance and St. Just in Primary schools for the past 5 years.

My proposals for workshops offered: Withy sculpture, lantern making, costume making, textiles – block printing, screen printing, resist techniques: wax and other, silk painting, stamping, stenciling, flag design, banner making, small prayer/ wish flags (inspired by Tibetan designs) , mixed media, collage and sculpture.
