Nowhere Island – Resources for schools

Nowhereisland, one of this year’s most ambitious art projects is a floating island sculpture by artist Alex Hartley.   The island is made from material originating from a newly revealed island in the Arctic. Alex was the first person to stand on this territory and, with permission, brought the material back to the UK to make the artwork. During the journey to the UK,
Nowhereisland was declared a new nation with citizenship open to all. This summer it will arrive in Weymouth, accompanied by an online mobile museum The Embassy, for the opening of the Olympic and Paralympic Games on 25th July 2012.

Resources for schools include an animation made by KS1 and KS2 pupils, open citizenship, conversation starters and images, a competition (see details here), summary sheets of key themes and ideas for classroom activities and a logbook of the expedition.
