Smart Network

The Smart network is a group of well respected and highly experienced arts organisations in Cornwall with a passionate belief in the power of the arts to change lives.

We can show you how the arts can find different solutions to some of the issues faced by children, young people and communities in Cornwall.

We devise exceptional, inspiring creative work across the following areas to meet the diverse needs of children, young people and communities:

In 2009‐2010 KEAP, The Works, made and Effervescent worked with:
• 787 children in early years and 3723 young people in formal education
• 18 young people categorised as NEET
• 635 children and young people in informal education, 190 adults and 682 people in mixed age groups
Created training opportunities for 617 adults and long term training for 15
adults.

Attendance: On projects with hard to reach young people Effervescent
achieved attendance of 96% and 94%

Leverage: The core funding from Cornwall Council, and Arts Council England levered a further £278, 815 into Cornwall for work with children, young people and communities.

Some examples of work from The Smart network partner organisations:

 Scene & Heard  – A project which enabled disadvantaged young people to create media projects and get their voices heard.

Shake, Rattle and Roll! - An action research project which used music and dance to explore language, communication and creativity in
14 early years setting over a period of five months.

Gonamena - A community play based on the mining history of Bodmin Moor creating community cohesion and knowledge of local environment and heritage.
