Sing to Success
Sing to Success in Cornwall grows from the legacy of Sing Up!
What is Sing to Success?
It is a singing development programme for primary schools which delivers:
• Training in singing and vocal leadership
• Tailored CPD programmes
• Annual large scale projects and performances across the county
• Specialist one to one support e.g. festival or concert preparation, repertoire development, enhancing a cross curricular approach
• Online and phone support
Our Sing to Success Programme Leader is Angela Renshaw.
Sing to Success from September 2012
2011/12 was our first year trialling a membership scheme, and it has allowed us to continue and build on singing development activity in Cornwall since Sing Up. Sing to Success activity has included the Children in Need performance at Eden, the Truro Cathedral Outreach programme, International Voices and most recently, a full house at Hall for Cornwall for Sing to Success Goes to the Movies along with other events we have been commissioned to provide such as the choirs for TIN and Caradon Voices.
You will also be aware of the new Cornwall Music Hub. Led by Music Cornwall (Cornwall Learning) and including a partnership of various music organisations, venues and schools, it is now the job of the Cornwall Music Hub to oversee music development in Cornwall. One of the core roles of the Music Hub is to develop a Vocal Strategy and you will be pleased to know that Sing to Success and KEAP have been heavily involved in the steering group for the Hub, and Sing to Success will be a lead partner in the Vocal Strategy development and delivery.
Due to these changes in the music landscape, we have decided that a local membership scheme is not required to keep singing development alive in Cornwall. Instead, Sing to Success will continue to deliver contracts with partners organisations and singing leaders, including plenty of training, projects, events and performances linked to the Cornwall Vocal Strategy and to other organisations such as Sing Up and Truro Cathedral. We should see an increase in activity across Cornwall and this will benefit everyone.
Our membership schools this year have ensured that singing development in Cornwall has not dwindled, in fact it has thrived. We look forward to working with you all in the next year!
