Steve Hawker – Music workshops
I run music workshops centred around using music technology, enabling participants to create and perform music in a way that is both fun and produces good results quickly.
Activities include writing songs, creating electronic music, and soundscapes to tell stories with. Using musical instruments, voice, and recording sounds found nearby, the results are woven into music tracks during the workshops. Using Wii remotes to create music using movement provides an accessible and appealing way for people to start creating their own performances even if they’ve never played an instrument before.
I work in a wide variety of musical styles, from classical and jazz improvisation, to ambient and drum and bass, and lots inbetween! I also have experience working with those with special needs and disabilities, using technology to find ways of creating music that respond to their abilities.
