Cornwall Film

Cornwall Film was set up in 2001, and initially focused on script and project development and short film production. Between 2002 and 2004, Cornwall Film supported over 50 projects, spending almost half a million pounds and attracting much more in inward investment.

Cornwall Film now administers the new Cornwall Film AVIS-D Project, a project financed by the European Union via the European Regional Development Fund, and a partnership of South West Screen, Cornwall County Council and Penwith District Council.

The new project broadens the work of Cornwall Film to include support for television and new media projects in addition to film. It offers a wider funding brief via the Development Fund, and two new funds: the Production Fund, and the Company and Individual Development Fund.

With a total value of more than £1.8million including businesses private match funding, it also aims to attract inward investment of £7.8 million to the region will run from 2005 to 2006 and with the aim of supporting up to 51 businesses. After this point Cornwall Film aims to become an independent organisation, raising further funds with which to continue supporting Cornwall's media industry.

Other key partners in delivery of the project are the South West Regional Development Agency and the UK Film Council. Cornwall Film works with Business Link, Cornwall Pure Business, Creative Kernow, Creative Skills, Finance Cornwall and University College Falmouth to ensure maximum benefit for Cornwall's media practitioners.

In the last few years, the media industry in Cornwall has undergone a resurgence. The new Cornwall Film project has been developed to support the growth of this exciting sector. We look forward to developing a sustainable media industry in the region, supporting experienced media companies already building successful businesses, and nurturing our new talent and future entrepreneurs.
