Barefoot
The Barefoot Project is Plymouth's Arts Education Partnership Agency. Its job is to link the worlds of arts and education. Since 1999 Barefoot has been working with schools, communities, artists and arts organisations in the city to give young (and not so young) people more opportunities to develop their creativity. Barefoot provides information, advice, brokerage between artists and schools and training, as well as instigating and managing a number of creative projects. It also offers assistance to schools making applications to Artsmark, many of which are, or have been, involved in Big Arts Festival - the Plymouth Arts Education Festival - which Barefoot has run annually since 2000. This week of creative activity includes The Big Arts Day at Plymouth Pavilions, art master classes, young filmmakers' screenings and the 'Art of the Community' initiative.
