Why the arts matter -please take part in this consultation

Following our recent consultation and briefing sessions on future priorities you'll know how central your views and contributions are to taking forward a shared vision for the arts.

We believe that there is a vital case to be made to secure the best deal for the arts, and that we all have an important role to play.

To support your conversations over the next few months we have produced guidance, including key points about why the arts matter. We would welcome your contributions to building this evidence base further.

The Arts Council has also joined up with the heritage and museum sectors to make the case for culture and the vital role it can play in our social and economic recovery and we'll be launching a document later this month that sets out the role that culture will play.

Thanks to 10 years of increased government funding, and the impact of the introduction of the National Lottery in 1994, the arts are thriving. There is now a genuine acceptance that they are a part of the fabric of the nation.

We want to build on that strength to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to access the very best of the arts.
That's why we need your help to make the best arguments possible, and why we want you to continue to share your thoughts on the priorities for the next ten years.

We urge you to encourage your networks to take part in Achieving great art for everyone at www.artscouncil.org.uk/consultation

This awareness has galvanised around the fact that the relationship between humanity and our life-giving planet is in a critical state.

MA Art & Environment, at UniversityCollege Falmouth, encourages a focused engagement with ecological and environmental issues. Designed to give you the skills, expertise and confidence to operate as a professional artist in this critical area of practice, the course will also enable you to develop strategies and practices that use art as a cultural agent - as a tool for knowledge, understanding and change.
