“Young people are at the heart of what we do”

What is special:  the way that Travelling Light works with young children as part of their R&D process in order to create new experimental work.

The Project: Travelling Light partnered with Take Art’s Sticky Fingers and Toes Project. As a result Travelling Light was able to play and observe young children to feed & research a new production.  This production was Shadow Play which had no story and no words. The company has since created two more abstract, non-verbal shows for young children, How Cold My Toes and Boing!, both using dance and music as the main artforms.

Take Art was able to introduce arts venues to children’s centres, to engage children and their families & expand their range and perception of arts activities. The main outcome for Take Art has been Little Big Bang, a 2-year project which brings creative professionals into key Somerset Children’s Centres to work as part of their professional teams.
