the quality of the engagement and the art work produced
What is special:
The Project: Exploring new ways to engage hard-to-reach students with their local heritage and environment, using the combined resources of MLA and ACE-funded organisations in a project aiming to nurture a greater understanding of traditional and contemporary arts and crafts through practical and hands on activity.
Key activities: Site visit to Marland Clayworks resulting in clay work with artist Gill Bliss. Mining earth pigments and painting with them with artist Pete Ward. Responding to the Beaford archive through cooking, lino cuts and screen printing and photoshop manipulation to create banners with Tony Minnion. Building a cob oven in the school grounds. All work then exhibited in the Torrington Library.
