What is special: young people taking a lead in running events for their peers and encouraging venues and promoters to programme for young people.

The Projects:  In Somerset Spaeda established a Youth Arts Promoters group and gave them essential skills around engaging young people and marketing.  They undertook 5 Youth Arts regional case studies and consulted with a wide range of 11 – 19 yr olds about the arts and creativity within the Youth Offer and made a range of new partners. YAP member Kelly fundraised and managed a 16k project for young people local bands and installation work created with other YAP members at the Brewhouse theatre and arts centre. The group also ran an event in Yeovil called Youvil.

In Cornwall the Young Promoters has worked with 246 young people from across Cornwall to put on arts events in their local areas.  It has supported or taken charge of the programming of 5 professional shows, two which they brought down from the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and promoted and helped to develop two original pieces of work created by the young people within the network. It has worked with and offered training to 15 young volunteers between the ages of 18 to 26 and set up workshops for young people in the network with creative practitioners from local arts companies:  It has worked in partnership with The Works to distribute 10,500 free tickets to under 26s in Cornwall through the A Night Less Ordinary Scheme by creating and sending out a monthly e-bulletin to over 280 young people and young people’s organisations across Cornwall.
