James Parkes – Animation projects & workshops

I have worked with primary and secondary schools on animation projects and workshops since 2006.

Animation Projects generally take the form of a short film and can be tailored to your needs.
Shorter projects are structured to focus students on practical animation. Longer projects give students greater involvement in the creative development of their film. From scripting and storyboarding, through model making and animation, to sound and editing, a collaborative team effort is encouraged in the journey from pre-production to post-production.

Animation Workshops instruct students on the craft of animation and culminate in a sequence of animation examples. Shorter workshops teach students the fundamentals of animation; squash and stretch, action and reaction, acceleration and deceleration, mass and speed and basic substitution.
A variety of animation mediums may also be explored; puppet, plasticine, drawn, cut-out, pixilation, rotoscope and sand-on-glass. Longer workshops explore and develop character animation skills and enable students to more effectively plan and execute their work.
